About Class

How do we witness each other in motion, what is a warm up, how does movement become the language in which to express ourselves, how do we practice our unfolding ecology and dance for each other? What are we hearing and how do we explain? What does movement do and what can it become? I would like to propose partnered movement explorations, modes of physical listening, and tuning practices as a way to heighten our responsivity during interactions with each other. While creating and navigating physical landscapes the work we will do together holds an intention and an invitation to experience conversing intimately with movement, with dance, and with each other.

Jennifer Nugent

Jennifer addresses her body, mind and being through questioning. She articulates internal experiences through performance and teaching; augmenting these practices by sharing and refining ideas in front of others—a transmission of spoken and gestural language.Jennifer has worked and performed with many choreographers and companies, notably the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, David Dorfman Dance, and with collaborator Paul Matteson. Jennifer is currently working with Faye Driscoll and is a performer in the project March, choreographed by Tendayi Kuumba, Annie B Parson (Big Dance Theater), and Donna Uchizono which will premiere at The Perelman Performing Arts Center in December 2023. Jennifer Movement Research (NYC), and Sarah Lawrence College, (NY).
