Low Key Stressed, High Key Fucking It Up

Image shows title of piece “Low Key Stressed, High Key Fucking It Up.” Beneath it reads "Dancers: Michaela Esteban. Original Score: Pearl Scott"

A movement story based in three acts that show the portrayal of love, frustration and triumph. It starts in a room that continues to be stretched by personal intentions to make this room a home for someone to feel safe in. Love shows the access to compassion, Frustration shows the access to accepting the downfalls and Triumph shows the resolve of perseverance that is needed to survive it all.

Justin Bass, born and bred from East Cleveland, Ohio he is a choreographer, dancer, teacher and candle maker based in Brooklyn, NY. Currently working for The Wallace Foundation and during his time there he has created Artist Salon Series which provided a virtual platform and funding for emerging artist during the pandemic for the last year and a half. While working from home he created an all natural soy candle company on Etsy called "Are You Lit Candles" which he hand makes from his Brooklyn apartment. Looking forward he wants to continue to show his work, offer opportunities for other artist and growing within himself to see where his creativity to go.

“the show was both interesting and aesthetically attractive – sometimes a tricky balance to find. I look forward to seeing what Justin Bass comes up with next. “- Justin Bass: A Bag of Nuts, May 27th, 2017 reviewed by Kendall Fischer of loveDANCEmore.org

An investigation on the many ways we experience loss. Loss is change, a catalyst, to be left, to leave, wonder, visceral, a collection of memories, denial, bargaining, foggy, blurred, stillness, semblance, echo, feedback, scarcity, depletion, incomplete, unmentionable, mentionable, tunneling, heaviness, certainty, heartbreak, heart opener, nostalgia, love, honor, revolution.

Indigo Sparks (she/her) is a performance artist, choreographer, writer, and arts administrator, based in Brooklyn, NY. Her deep curiosity for the facilitation of community and the transcendent possibilities of live performance continues to be reflected in her creative work and processes. Her arts administration experience includes organizations like The Vail Dance Festival, The Shed, The Public Theater, and the reopening of Girl From The North Country on Broadway. underneath it all

underneath it all explores the yearn for human connection and community. As the piece develops there is an underlying dystopian feel to the space the dancers are creating and an awkwardness established in the connections forming between the dancers. The piece aims to unify those that struggle with connecting to others and themselves as well as reflect and comment on how challenging and vulnerable the human connection can be.

Spare/Change is a dance collective based in Queens, NY that aims to create work that is accessible to audiences of all ages. Since the company's conception in 2018 it has performed in various venues throughout New York City as well as festivals outside of New York.
