JULIA ANTINOZZI’S THE SUITE RETURNS TO TRISK, CO-PRESENTED WITH NEW YORK LIVE ARTS’S LIVE ARTERY FESTIVAL

For Immediate Release
DECEMBER 4, 2024
BROOKLYN, NY -- Triskelion Arts is honored to co-present with New York Live Arts' Live Artery Festival, Julia Antinozzi’s THE SUITE. The performance will run JAN 10-JAN 12 at the following times; JAN 10 at 8PM, JAN 11 at 2PM and 8PM, and JAN 12 at 3PM. All performances are at Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn. THE SUITE is choreographed by Julia Antinozzi in collaboration with the dancers, and performed by Sienna Blaw, Dasol Kim, Paulina Meneses, and Kelsey Saulnier. Music is by Ryan Wolfe, and Costume Design and Styling is by Sonya Gadet-Molansky. Lighting Design is by Connor Sale in collaboration with Anna Wotring.

THE SUITE is a postmodern ballet set in a dream sequence defined by an architecture of light. The work centers two overlapping duets that are inspired by the character and style of romantic and neoclassical ballet. While the movement is paramount and the plot is deemphasized, THE SUITE suggests a liminal romance.

The Poet (Kim) is first introduced alone in unknown darkness, and encounters The Sleepwalker (Saulnier), crepuscular and sensitive. A reverence of sweet meetings and inevitable retreats unfolds, becoming progressively romantic. They are guided and anchored by The Divertissement pair (Blaw and Meneses), who stride with bravura through continuous unison and partnering, developing the pressure of the action.

The dancers employ a technique that integrates classical forms with casual pedestrian conduct. They perform abstracted pantomime that suggests meaning without enforcing it. There is athleticism and clarity in the movement as the forms dissolve ephemerally into and out of shadow.

THE SUITE was fully developed in collaboration with composer Ryan Wolfe, costume designer and stylist Sonya Gadet-Molansky, and lighting designers Connor Sale and Anna Wotring. Each collaborator was involved from the beginning of the process to investigate source material, valuably contributing to the integrity of the work.

This is the premiere of THE SUITE in its completeness, which links moments from its predecessors: The first presentation of THE SUITE was developed through the Trisk Fellowship at Triskelion Arts, presented in April 2024. THIRD VARIATION, the continuation, was originally commissioned by the Fresh Tracks program at New York Live Arts, presented in May 2024.

Tickets are on sale online now, and will be available each night at the box office beginning 30 minutes before curtain.
