A new manifesto of dance in the time of pandemic
by Laura Peterson
A new manifesto of dance in the time of pandemic.
This can be a time of transformation.
A time to shed what is unnecessary and holds us back in a world that doesn’t exist.
It is an opportunity to look more closely at what we value, like our obsession with consumerism, and the most superficial layer of every event and idea.
The narratives of New York City include financial success, the veneer of glamour and the need for attention.
And desperation exists at every level.
When there are thousands of people dying in New York,
economic collapse, fear, and lingering anxiety permeates the air, how do we justify what we have created?
And why should we? Why pretend?
There is an invisible monstrous, virus that that we can only control with our actions with our location and a superficial layer.
A mask.
Reassess relationships with everything.
Transform.
