SUMMER 2024

GLUE was formed with the belief that artists need time to stumble around in the wilderness of experimentation without agenda, with curiosity and openness to discovery, and (importantly) amidst a cohort of artists sharing and processing the work at hand.

This workshop is for the experienced movement artist who craves experimenting with new ideas in their research with an exchange of methodology, dialogue, and ensemble performance practice. It is a week-long gathering where choreographers, makers, improvisers share their process and facilitate experimentation with their methodology in an extended studio practice. Simultaneously we will offer a rigorous and playful exploration of the possibilities of improvisation as a performing art form, a tool for composition, and as a studio practice. Action is dialogue.

TESTIMONIALS

“Every participant and facilitator fully jumped in, which made the experience all the more valuable. I am walking away from the workshop exhilarated, with an expanded toolbox and network of artistic connections. I look forward to taking insights from the workshop and putting them into my own work as a collaborator and creator. And I am excited to see what this community of artists continues to put forward!” - Ali Bianchi

“It is rare for professional artists to get the opportunity to create without the pressure of delivering a finished product at the end. GLUE is a unique residency that I hope other artists get the chance to experience.” - Amber Sloan

“An incredible chance to dive into an artist's process with room to explore as much for yourself as you are a research participant for the leading artist. A diverse and supportive group of dance makers, teachers and performers coming together to try new things, test ideas and share in community. “- Evik Abbott-Main

“GLUE was such a special experience. To have the time and space to work with brilliant artists at no cost whatsoever was truly a gift. I left the experience feeling joyous, inspired, and more connected to the New York dance community than ever before!” - Khala Brannigan
